YBNR President's Message

By YBNR Board 02/23/2025, 11:00am EST

YBNR is excited to announce a sports partnership that will positively impact the youth and all of the communities inside of New Rochelle.  This Spring season YBNR will join together with New Rochelle Little League to consolidate the talented players of the entire city, combining into one recreational league.  This move will allow all recreational baseball and softball players the opportunity to play in Little League Baseball and Softball, the world's preeminent youth sports organization.

We will also further enhance and enlarge enrollment in our YBNR travel program which competes in the Greater Hudson Valley League.  Last season, we saw incredible success in our travel program with 6 teams reaching the Greater Hudson Valley Finals and 4 of our teams winning it all, more than any other year in recent memory.  If you have any questions regarding travel baseball you can email Adam Deutsch at travel@ybnr.org and for travel softball you can contact Arnold Bencosme and Joe DeCandia at ybnrSBtravel@gmail.com.

With this new collaboration of our recreational programs, our website now features a new sign-up process.  Even if you are returning to YBNR, you may need to set up a new account.  You will notice there will be some additional questions to complete and multiple options available depending on your child's skill level and experience.  Every child ages 8 and older will also be signing up for an evaluation which will take place the weekend of March 22nd.  These evaluations will focus on key skills including hitting, fielding, throwing and pitching.  Our goal is to better balance the teams and ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for all players.  Additionally, those looking to enroll in T-Ball will find that option under the baseball section of the registration.  Please note as this is a new endeavor, there may be some bumps along the way and please always feel free to reach out to us should you have any questions.   For recreational baseball you can email Dan Rivlin at ybnrllbbrec@gmail.com or for recreational softball you can email Frank Leto at ybnrllsbrec@gmail.com.

We also have a strong sponsorship team led by Matt Glinski and Matt Leone who are also in the process of scheduling an amazing opening day event.  If you would like to sponsor a team or volunteer to assist their group you can contact them at sponsors@ybnr.org.  We will send out a separate email in the coming weeks regarding our opening day event and start of the season, both of which we expect to take place in April.

In addition to our Travel and Rec programs, the best of our city will now combine and be eligible to compete for a chance to go to the Little League World Series and represent our great city on a global stage.

For multiple generations, there was a North End (YBNR) and a South End (New Rochelle Little League) that both successfully competed for talent in their programs and it is exciting to announce that through the successful collaboration between the boards of both organizations, we will have more fields, more games and more training for every kid in New Rochelle regardless of the area they live.

We look forward to you joining us this Spring!

Thank you,
The YBNR Board
