Dear YBNR Families,
My name is Michelle Kolodny and I am proud to be the new president of YBNR. I am a wife and mom to 3 baseball loving boys, 4, including my husband, so New Rochelle baseball has been a big part of my family’s lives for many years. I was a pitcher on my high school softball team, so softball also holds a special place in my heart. I became the president of YBNR to continue the legacy that YBNR has created while increasing the love of baseball and softball throughout our community.
I am thrilled to be working alongside so many dedicated volunteers who share a collective goal to strengthen our league and provide an outstanding experience for our young athletes. Please keep in mind throughout the season that all of our board members, coaches and everyone working behind the scenes are all volunteering their time and expertise to benefit our children.
On that note, I would like to introduce our board members and commissioners. YBNR’s new vice president is Arnold Benscome, our treasurer is David Reifer and our secretary is Eric Heller. We also have several other board members, Orlando Pichardo, Marc Ferrucci, David Soberman, Dan Rivlin and Jason Ser. We have several commissioners for our leagues. For the baseball recreational program, our Mites Commissioner is Sam Hollander at mites@ybnr.org, our Rookies Commissioner is Dan Rivlin at rookies@ybnr.org, our Minors Commissioner is Joe DeCandia at minors@ybnr.org and our Majors Commissioner is Scott Brandwein at majors@ybnr.org. Our softball recreational commissioners are Arnold Benscome and Nick Tamanga at rec_softball@ybnr.org. YBNR also offers travel baseball and softball programs. If you have any questions regarding those programs, you can reach out to Orlando Pichardo, travel@ybnr.org for travel baseball or Marc Ferrucci, travel_softball@ybnr.org for travel softball.
I am excited to announce that REGISTRATION IS OPEN for all recreational divisions. We invite you to visit YBNR.org to register for the spring season if you have not done so already. Registration is also opened for parents who want to volunteer to coach their child’s recreational team. It is a wonderful and rewarding opportunity to help children develop their baseball and softball skills while also meeting and working with other baseball families in the community. YBNR offers scholarships to deserving athletes, please feel free to reach out to us for more information. Our season is set to begin on April 16th and will run through June 18th.
If your child is registered for the Mites program, their games will be Saturday and Sunday. Our T-ball clinic will be held on Sunday mornings. Softball will be held on Sundays plus rotate between 2 weekday games. As of now we anticipate that the Minors will have games on Sunday plus rotating between a Monday or Thursday night game. Majors and Rookies will hold games on Sunday plus rotate between a Tuesday or Wednesday night game. As we get closer to the start of the season, children will be assigned teams and receive their finalized schedule. Teams will be selected by the end of March so make sure you register to guarantee your child’s spot.
We are thrilled to have the support of many local businesses who are excited to partner with YBNR and build a longstanding relationship with the league, our young athletes and your family. Our sponsorship team has been working with many local businesses to bring YBNR exclusive offers and events to you. Be sure to follow YBNR on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for announcements and check out our list of sponsors on YBNR.org.
Please join us for our Season Opener on April 15th at Pinebrook Field where your child will meet his/her teams and coaches and receive their jersey for the season. You will get to meet the board members and commissioners. We will have raffles, food trucks and ice cream so come hungry. More details to follow. Save the date for June 4th when YBNR families and children will have the opportunity to participate in a Future Stars Program with the Mets.
If you ever want to reach out to me, of course, I’m happy to address any concerns or questions. My email is president@ybnr.org. I look forward to seeing everyone out on the field!
YBNR President
